Protecting Elrios and searching for the El Shards at the same time can be a tedious task. That’s why we are bringing in a little backup for our adventurers to defeat those pesky demons! It’s always nice to bring a sidekick along when it is time to tear through the hordes of baddies. This guide will give you a low-down on the Elsword Online Pet System and how you can become the perfect trainer.

Why become a pet owner?

Can we say cuteness overload? Come on, this one’s a no-brainer! All cuteness aside, the pet system is quite complex but helpful to the pet owner in various ways. Pets are not just for the owners to admire and show off. In fact, they really serve as your sidekick! A pet will help its master fight through dungeons by using its attack, buff and passive skills.
 

 

How do I become a pet owner?

Players will have to reach Level 10 to qualify to be a pet owner. Follow these steps to get your very own pet Pocket Phoru!
 
1. Reach the Level 10 requirement.
 
2. Visit Elder Village and chat with Hoffman.
 
3. A new quest series called “(Pet) Tainted Life Crystal” will activate under your Story Quests.
 
4. Finish the quest series and you will be rewarded with a Pocket Phoru Life Crystal and 10 El Tree Seeds.
 


 
5. Right click the Life Crystal and name your pet.
 

  		6. Congratulations! You are now a pet owner!

Pet System Features

 

1. Evolution System
  • Pets in Elsword do not have a continuous growth system where they rise through levels, but they grow in stages of evolution.
    • Life Crystal » Infant » Teen » Adult
  • In the game, pets are acquired in their Life Crystal stage.
  • Players can assign a name to their pet once they use the crystal.
  • The crystal can evolve to the Infant stage once it reaches enough affinity.
    • The infant pet can only gain more affinity after 70% by consuming El Tree’s Fruit and Seeds.
    • They can evolve to the teen stage once they reach 100% affinity.
  • The teen stage can evolve to the adult stage once it reaches enough affinity.
    • The teen pet can only gain more affinity after 70% by consuming El Tree’s Fruit and Seeds.
    • They can evolve to the adult stage once they reach 100% affinity.
  • The adult stage can only gain more affinity after 70% by consuming El Tree’s Fruit and Seeds.
    • They cannot evolve any further but can activate a special state if it is available for the pet type.
HUNGER

  • This shows your pet’s hunger status. The level increases when you feed your pet.
  • You cannot feed your pet if its hunger is filled to 80%.
  • Hunger status will decrease according to the player’s actions.
  • Hunger level decreases when the owner and other party members kill monsters in dungeons. The amount of decrease also helps determine how often the pet engages in battle.
PET FOOD

  • Pets love eating the El energy you feed them from weapon and armor equipment (excluding costumes).
  • The pet will eat any equipment or pet food automatically when you check ‘auto feed’.
    • Only auto feed when hunger is below 80%.
    • Pets eat the low-priced equipment first before the higher-priced ones.
  • The El Tree Fruit is the best food made from concentrated El energy. It can be purchased from the Item Mall.

 

AFFINITY

  • This shows the level of attachment the pet has towards its owner.
  • The maximum value is different for each evolution stage.
  • The pet can only eat certain food types once affinity reaches 70%.
  • Affinity increases in dungeons when the pet-owner and their party members kill monsters.
  • Affinity may increase or decrease, depending on hunger levels.


 
2. Pet Bag (Inventory)
• Pets have their own inventory storage that owners can access.
• Pet inventory cannot store ‘trade impossible’ items.
• Storage increases according to the pet stages, and maximum capacity is fixed according to pet type.
• Every pet has a different base storage capacity.
• Pet inventory can be opened in town and dungeons

*If pet food is stored in the pet’s inventory, the system checks whether hunger is less than satisfied (i.e. less than 80%) when the pet automatically feeds itself.

 

3. Pet Skills
  • Skill type varies according to the pet’s state.
  • A pet can have 3 different types of skills.
Passive Skill

  • Passive skill is classified into 3 types
    • Attribute Buff (Body)
    • Enhancement Buff (Spirit)
    • Stat. Buff (Stance)
  • It increases as the pet progresses from Infant to Adult.

 
Attack Skill

  • A pet has only one attack type that does not level. The attack skill changes when it evolves.
  • The pet’s stats are based on its owner.
  • It will target the monsters that attack its master or that its master attacks.

 
Buff Skill

  • Pets will buff (encourage) their master if they reach a critical condition.
  • The buff skill available depends on the pet’s evolution stage.
  

 

4. Pet Behavior
  • Pets’ highest priority is to stay in a close range with their masters unless under certain conditions.
  • A pet will transport to its master if they are too far apart.
  • Pets will act a certain way depending on the conditions.
    • They act accordingly for themselves.
    • They act according to their master’s condition.
    • They act according to their master’s command.
  • Pets will respond and behave according to below conditions.
    • Pets will not respond or take action if their hunger level is below 40%.
    • The frequency of a pet’s response and actions depends on its personality and affinity.
5. Pet Personality
  • This depends on the pet’s feeding diet and how much time its owner spends with it.
  • Pet type does not determine a pet’s personality.
  • The pet’s personality determines when it will use attack and buff skills.
  • Pet personality charge has different characteristics:
    • Sociable – talkative and hyperactive
    • Shy – quiet and less active
    • Impulsive – less thinking and more fun
    • Sensible – thinks twice and more rational
